Westat Acquires Edvance Research
Research organization and education research and technical assistance organization join to provide assistance to various government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private industries.
Westat, a leading research organization, and Edvance Research, an education research and technical assistance organization, have combined their capabilities with Westat’s acquisition of Edvance on December 31, 2015. This brings together their skills and experience in providing research, evaluation, and technical assistance services to federal, state, and local government agencies; nonprofit organizations; and private industry.
Westat is an employee-owned professional services company headquartered in Rockville, MD. Since 1963, Westat has provided statistical and evaluation research services to federal, state, and local government agencies as well as non-governmental organizations in the fields of health, education, social policy, transportation, housing, the environment, and other areas.
Edvance, founded in 2005, is a professional services business. Its mission is to improve outcomes for students through innovative approaches to building the capacity of educators and their school communities to conduct, understand, and use educational data and research. Edvance staff and current projects will continue to operate from their existing Texas locations. Dean Nafziger and Donald Barfield, two of the co-founders of Edvance, have been appointed to the Westat Management Group.
